Past Grant Recipients

Grants recipients for Fiscal Year 2010-2011 were:

  • The M.O.R.G.A.N Project: JLSB awarded a $1000 grant to The M.O.R.G.A.N Project. An organization that is not disease specific, was created to support and assist families caring for disabled children, regardless of underlying disease or disability. JLSB’s donation will be used for a Somatron Vabroacoustic Tubby Ball Poll that will provide vibrotactile stimulation from active vibrating balls, with ever changing colored lights throughout the balls. A JLSB place card will be placed on the equipment.
  • Friends of Children of Brevard County: Friends of Children of Brevard is a non-profit organization that supports the Guardian ad Litem program and the abused, abandoned and neglected children in dependency court. Requests to help these children come through the Guardian ad Litems, court appointed advocates for the children in dependency court. Often these children are placed with relatives or friends that do not qualify for foster care funding. Many times it is a hardship for the caregivers to unexpectedly assume custody of the children. That is where Friends steps in – they provide, on very short notice, funds to purchase a bed and bedding so the child does not end up sleeping on a couch, sharing a twin bed with another child or sleeping on the floor. The Friends have built relationships with local stores to get the very best price to stretch their donations as far as possible. This is just one way the Friends provide help for these children. The $1000 grant provided by the Junior League of South Brevard, Inc. enables the Friends to purchase cribs and beds and develop an immediate source of beds to the Guardian ad Litems.
